When he was first born, Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge kept Prince George out of the spotlight as much as possible. Now, with two more children, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, and more focus on the family, we’ve been seeing the Cambridge kids a lot more.
Amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the adorable littles clapped for the National Health Service. Also, Kate revealed a hilarious story about Prince George being a bit jealous of his younger sister’s homework assignment.
The future Crowned King celebrates his seventh birthday on July 22, and as she does with all of her children on their special days, the Duchess of Cambridge shared new photos of her oldest son. In addition to looking super grown-up, Prince George gave a nod to his uncle, Prince Harry in one of his birthday photos.
Prince George’s 7th birthday photos are adorable
As is her tradition, Kate released two never-before-seen photos of her oldest son, which were taken by her earlier this month. In both photos, an ecstatic Prince George can be seen smiling into the camera.
In one shot, he is sporting a dark green polo and in the other, he is looking mischievous and wearing a T-Shirt. Typically, the Cambridges don’t release any details on how they celebrate their kids’ birthdays. This year, after all, the prince will probably have a family-only event due to social distancing guidelines.
However, one of Prince George’s grandmothers, Princess Diana’s old friend, Julia Samuel, revealed the gift she would be giving George. She told People,
I do to George what [Princess Diana] did to us, which is give impossible toys that are really noisy and take a lot of making. I come in slightly tipped by the size of the present that William then has to spend days putting together. And then put all the machinery together, and it makes awful tooting noises and lights flashing and all of that.
Inside Prince George’s personality
All of the Cambridge children have very distinct personalities. While Princess Charlotte is known for her boisterous attitude, and Prince Louis is known for his exuberance and his love for his mom, Prince George is said to be more reserved than his siblings.
“George is more reserved, and Charlotte is more outgoing,” a royal insider explained to People. “[George is] the heir and one day he might be king. It’s the same difference between William and [his brother]. Harry is much more laid-back and William is the more serious one because he will be king one day.”
Despite their differing personalities, the Cambridge kiddos get along very well.
Prince George’s birthday photo is a nod to Prince Harry
In the more candid birthday photo of the prince, he is seen standing to the side while wearing a green camouflage print T-shirt. This appears to be a direct nod to Prince Harry who served in the Royal Army for a decade and undertook two tours of Afghanistan during his military career.
The Duke of Sussex retired from the Army in 2015. When he resigned as a senior working member of the royal family earlier this year, he was forced to give up some of his military appointments. Since Prince Harry is very close to his nephews and niece despite his transatlantic move, Prince George’s photo could be a wink to him.
